Hiking & Walking -
There are 160 National Park in Queensland, most of
which offer walks of varying degrees of difficulty. see:

Mountain Biking -
There are trails in many locations including:

Sea life watching
-
The migration route for Humpback Whales
from Antarctica takes them close to the Great Barrier Reef. This is
a good place to see them
as well as in Tropical North Queensland and Southern
Queensland in Hervey Bay and Moreton Bay.

Hand feeding Dolphins
from the beach in the wild is possible at Tin Can Bay and Moreton Island
in southern Queensland.

North of Cairns, at
Ribbon Reef, Minke Whales make an appearance between May and August.

Swimming with sharks
(harmless ones) is possible at North Horn on Osprey reef, which due to
favourable conditions, attracts large numbers of Tuna, Barracuda and
several species of Shark.

Spawning coral is a
sight to behold, It happens over a few nights following the October
or November full moon. The sea turns pink as millions of tiny eggs
are released simultaneously into the water. This is a must for
anyone who is in the area when this occurs and is a competent diver.

At night from October
to March, the Queensland coast is the place to be for seeing the
loggerhead, green, leatherback and flatback turtles nesting and the babies
hatching.

Bungy Jumping -
Tower bungy jumping
takes place at Cairns where you can
go individually or in Tandem. Don't forget to sign the waiver form
and make sure you life insurance is up to date! Only joking!! Also
try the Minjin Jungle Swing - don't ask.

Rafting
- For the beginner or those with some sense
of self preservation, the
Barron Gorge National Park provides a good
experience. However, for those who like a little more excitement try the
North Johnstone or the Russell rivers. The Mighty Tully River is regarded
as the best rafting river down under (and that includes NZ).

Kayaking -
Sea kayaking is a
great way to see the Whitsunday Islands,
Hinchinbrook island, Goold island or the Family islands. On the way
you'll paddle past golden beaches, rainforest, granite cliffs and
a wide variety
of sea-life, flora and fauna.
River kayaking is
available on several rivers including the Brisbane river, and in the
Cooloola-Great Sandy NP the Upper Noosa river is also a great place to go.

Jet Boating -The adrenalin pumping excitement of fish tailing,
sideways sliding, wake surfing and 360º spins
is all part of the fun of jet boating
available at the
beautiful Gold Coast Broadwater which is located
just north of Surfers Paradise.

Scuba Diving -
Goes without saying,
there's loads of it in and around the Great Barrier Reef. Some
places to base yourself are Cairns, Port Douglas, Mission Beach,
Townsville, Thw Whitsunday islands, Gladstone, Bundaberg, Brisbane,
Surfer's Paradise and The Sunshine coast.

Climbing -
Queensland is not renowned for it's
climbing opportunities, however, there are the "Scenic Rim" in south east
Queensland, the Mount Stuart crag in far northern Queensland as well as
crags at the Great Dividing Range that runs the entire length of the
state.

Skiing -
Queensland is not known for it's snow skiing but
there are plenty of opportunities for taking part in jet or cable skiing.
