Tasmania

Geography:  Across the Bass strait from Victoria lies the island state of Tasmania.  There are 55 adjacent island mostly lying in the Bass strait and 900 miles of coastline.  The chief peaks are Cradle mountain, the Frenchman's Cap and Ben Lomond.  Rivers include the Derwent, Huon, Arthur and Tamar.  The terrain is extremely rugged so that most of the population live near the coastal rivers , particularly the Derwent, Tamar and Mersey.
